AdSense Fraud

When you really think about it, there is actually no legal way to tell if web publishers such as Google do get a fair share from the AdSense profit ratio. Still, one cannot deny the fact that the Adsense program is quite helpful in generating revenues both for personal consumption and for online traffic. The sad news, however, is that there are malicious elements in the online world that see the highly lucrative Adsense program as one big milking cow. They make use of their rich knowledge about high technology in order to 'put one over' the unsuspecting advertiser and the trusting website owner. Indeed, there are people, as well as sites, who subscribe to AdSense fraud for the sole objective of sharing Adsense revenues the improper and illegal way. They employ several technical methods like using proxies or anonymous addresses before they click on the targeted ads. The fraudulent techniques also include the use of automated devices and robots. In some instances, manual clicking is also resorted to.Nevertheless, not all Adsense frauds experience success, especially for amateur fraudsters who simply click on several Google ads relentlessly. In such cases, they fail to take into account that Google has a regular inspection period every 45 days. Once the website makes the standard inspection, it will instantly notice numerous clicks that originate mostly from one or two IP addresses. When this happens, then the fraudster is unmasked, and his expected cash sent back to the virtual world.Admittedly, AdSense fraud poses a serious threat on the relationships existing among online advertisers, publishers, and web users. Nevertheless, it is good to know that sites like Google, as well as individual online users, remain vigilant whenever they encounter incidences implying AdSense fraud.

AdSense Optimization

As the saying goes, the journey to a lucrative land will require the best of your wit as well as your strategy. The internet is one industry where more and more players are trying to get their own slice of wealth and market share. Definitely, it is one business where you definitely have to dig your online gold all by yourself. However, digging and accumulating online money is not as easy as they may sound.

With a brilliant advertising scheme like AdSense optimization, there is no easier way to earn more money online. This program enables users to optimize traffic and viewer response on their own sites. By simply improving the informative content and textual quality of their sites, subscribers will surely attract more visitors and more targets for their pay-per-click ads.

With AdSense optimization, written content is of utmost concern, but this does not mean that it guarantees the appreciation of all web surfers as these people only pay attention to what interests them. Therefore, you should also focus on improving the visual appeal of your site through fine selection of ad formats and colors. Just make sure that they blend well with your overall design.

Aside from content, another useful tip in making use of AdSense optimization is the effective use of keywords. By choosing the right keywords and inserting them in your content, the Google search box can lead more web browsers to your ads as well as to your sites and even rank them at the top of the search list.

Indeed, when these things are observed accordingly, AdSense optimization can help users develop a more sensitive evaluation of their target market and their respective profiles. Hopefully, they can learn to eventually tap the true potential of their new found cyber enterprise.

What you need to know about AdSense Fraud

Many small businesses and sites that don't have budgets for large and flashy advertising campaigns view Google Adsense as a life saver. All they have to do is sign up and Google will send content-relevant text, image and video ads their way. The potential advantages are enormous as the ads are an unobtrusive means to generate income and increase traffic.

There is no such thing as a free lunch, however, so along with greater revenue and increased visibility, you also have to deal with the repercussions of potential Adsense Fraud. According to Adsense-tips.org, most Adsense fraud is committed by Adsense publishers, as the temptation of easy money is too great to ignore.

In an attempt to explain the phenomenon, Sofizar.com created four categories of fraudsters. The category titles are light-hearted, but Sofizar assures us that this in no way reflects any leniency felt towards the scoundrels.

1.The Regressive Fraudster or ClickMonkey: this bottom-feeder fraudster lacks both the ambition and the brains to make a success of his or her endeavours. With the aid of clickbot software and a few registered domains, ClickMonkey goes about creating a straw empire. He or she interlinks sites to fabricate popularity and PageRank, and begins clicking happily away. There are so many clicks in fact, that the account is banned before the poor monkey sees any profits. ClickMonkey may retire, defeated and broken, or may experience renewed vigour and surge back in the guise of.
2.Wanna-Be Fraudster or Bozo: Slightly more sophisticated than the ClickMonkey, Bozo makes the correct assumption that Adsense earnings are proportional to Google's profits. They target keywords that have high paying potential. Bozos create pages with content relevant to the profitable keywords. Then they go to town with clicking, often recruiting those near and dear to them to give them a hand. Bozos are foiled by failing to take Google's 45 day inspection period into account. Google analyses click-through rates and becomes curiously suspicious when they see that most clicks are generated from only a few addresses. Bozos don't pass inspection and either retire wiser, but none the worse for wear, or return as,
3.The Almost There Fraudster or the SmartAlec: SmartAlecs adopt a similar strategy to Bozos by targeting certain keywords and creating sites with supporting content. The difference is that SmartAlecs make friends with IP addresses from around the world. His or her new-found friends do all the clicking and SmartAlec rests assured that Google will never catch on because of the vast numbers of diverse IP addresses used. Unfortunately for SmarAlecs, they fail to take click-through rates into account. As soon as they exceed the limit, Google sits up and takes notice. After that it's a short walk to the sin-bin where the account is banned. Having come this far, however, aspirant fraudsters are often reluctant to give up and make one final attempt as,
4.Fraudster Maestro or Satan's Spawn: The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, so Satan's Spawn (SS) is criminally ingenious. SS knows all about keywords, click-through rates, inspection periods and which countries have the highest pay rate per click. SS is an immaculate schmoozer and can sweet talk anyone online into clicking his or her links. He or she uses tactics like asking people to check that the links work, offering free screensavers (who doesn't at least click for a look at free screensavers?) and outright deceit, for example, some SS might claim that clicking in a link will fill a bowl of food for starving children in Africa. This is grossly unfair to charitable sites that do actually feed the world's starving, but being a spawn of Satan, it's reasonable to assume that he or she doesn't care. The current Adsense market is worth over $5 billion per year, of which conservative estimates place fraud at 20%. This means that Adsense fraud costs legitimate companies over $1 billion per year. It's no wonder that aspirant fraudsters persevere until they get it right. It's not known as Filthy Lucre for nothing.
Considering the size of the market, it's unreasonable to expect Google to take sole responsibility for seeking the fraudsters out and ensuring that punitive measures are enforced. All advertisers and sites that make use of Adsense should actively combat the phenomenon. Tracking software is an effective weapon in the fraudster war, but sites need to make it known at the outset that they use tracking software. This not only serves as a warning against attempted fraud but also provides some measure of legal cover against lawsuits for violation of privacy.

It's also advisable to invest some software that analyses all of the activity on your site. This allows you to keep track of all your visitors, how long they stayed on your site, what they did etc. This is obviously similar to tracking software, but can have additional benefits for your site by highlighting areas that need attention or that should be emphasised. If your budget is not as flexible as you would like it to be, analytics make more economic sense as they can perform dual tracking and analysis functions.

Treble your Adsense Income in 60 MInutes

by: Kenny Hemphill

Google's Adsense is one of the most powerful weapons in website publisher's arsenal. It enables you to monetize your sites easily and if used properly can generate a very healthy income. However, if you're not using it properly and maximizing the income you squeeze from it, your leaving money on the table something we all hate doing.

Boosting your return from Adsense can be done very easily and quickly, and you'll be amazed by the results.

I ran Adsense on my sites for over a year before I discovered these techniques, and like many people, I though I was doing pretty well. My clickthrough rates and CPM figures were very healthy, and I didn't honestly think that they could be improved a great deal. How wrong I was. Immediately after I implemented a few quick changes my clickthrough rate more than doubled, and by doing some fine tuning I manged to get nearly three times as many people to click on the ads as had been previously doing so.

The first technique is one that was 'discovered' by the amazingly helpful Debs, on SiteSell's SBI! forums. When I read it originally, it made sense and I decided to goive it a go, but I wasn't prepared for the immediate impact it would have on my income. It involves making only a few simple changes to the format and positioning of your Adsense ads.

Firstly, forget about using banners or skyscrapers. These ad formats are almost universally ignored by surfers. Why? Because we've all been conditioned to recognise a skyscraper or banner as an advert and as these adverts are rarely of any interest, we ignore them. What's needed is a way of integrating Adsense ads into the editorial on your site as seamlessly as possible. To do this you need to do three things:

1. Use the 250 x 250 rectangle format 2. Make the background color of the ad the same as the background color of your site, or as close to it as possible. 3. Make the ads borderless by setting the border color to be the same as the background color of the ad.

These changes can be made by logging into your Adsense account and creating a custom format. Just select the 250 x 250 ad format, and create a custom color palette. Use the color picker to pick the coor you want. The Javascript is automatically generated at the foot of the page, ready for you to copy and paste into the pages on your site.

Now, you need to position your ads where surfers are most likely to click on them. Research using retina scanning technology has shown that the place that surfers tend to look at first and most often is the top left. I don't know the reasons for this, perhaps it's because that's where we're used to seeing the most useful search engine results (at the top of the rankings) and search engines are the sites we most often visit, so we automatically look at the same place on other sites.

Whatever the reasoning, as soon as I made the above changes to my Adsense ads, clickthrough rates doubled, immediately.

The second technique is much newer and one which is entirely based on my own experience. Google has recently added a new type of Adsense format, called Adlinks. This displays a series of links on your page in the same style of Ad unit as regular Adsense ads. When a user clicks a link they are taken to a page of adverts that resembles regular Google search results. As a publisher, you are paid every time a user clicks one of those ads.

Adventurous soul that I am, I jumped in with both feet and started to trial Adlinks on my most visited pages as soon as it was launched. I'm using the four links in a square box format, positioned top left of my page content. After a few weeks of running Adlinks alongside regular Adsense ads, it's clear that the return on Adlinks is about a fifth to a quarter higher than regular ads. There's no clear reason for this but one explanation may lie in the fact that clicking on an Adlink takes the user to page of 'results'. When a user clicks on one of these, you are paid for the click. If the user finds what they want, great, if not, it seems that they hit the Back button on their browser and try again, just as you would for normal search engine results. Then they click on another result, and you get paid again. So it's possible to be paid more than once from the same Adlink click. Now, this reasoning is speculative, but it does make perfect sense in the light of my Adlinks results.

Finally, Adsense has some excellent tracking statistics that allow you to track your results across a number of sites on a site by site, page by page, or just about any other basis you choose. This is a very powerful tool and you should use it to find out which ads are performing best for you and fine tune your Adsense and Adlink ads accordingly.

So you see, by spending an hour or so of your time making a few adjustments to the Adsense ads on your sites, you can very quickly treble your Adsense income. Give it a go, you'll be amazed by the results.

How much will I earn through Adsense ?

If you're looking at Google's AdSense program you're surely asking yourself how much you could make from such a program, and you probably think you can't make as much as you can from traditional advertising schemes.

Google, of course, keeps a great deal of secrecy regarding how much AdWords advertisers pay per each click directed to their site and the same applies for how much AdSense banner holders make from their websites.

While there's nothing official, rumors circulate around the Internet concerning the amount of cash a website can earn by using AdSense. And many people (illegally) disclose how much they have been making with AdSense. There are stories of people raising over one thousand dollars per month using AdSense.

There are also stories of people exceeding $100,000.00 per month but it's a bit hard to believe such stories. The truth to the matter is that if you have a small website and you just want it to support itself, and don't wish to reach your pocket for its maintenance costs you can probably do this with AdSense.

AdSense is also very good for people who host a lot of pages. Even if the said pages don't generate a lot of traffic individually, every click counts and you can earn up with a lot of money by doing this. And that just goes to prove that sometimes quantity matters nearly as much as quality.

There's no telling how much money you're going to make by using Google's AdSense but you can sort of tell for yourself, before actually starting, by taking a few things into consideration.

First, is the amount of visits you get every day. While there's no way to estimate precisely on this, you can generally make a safe assumption that if you have a lot of clicks per day you'll be making good money.

Also, this depends on what exactly your site is about. If your site is about anything popular (music, sex, whatever) you're bound to get a lot of banner clicks. These have a coefficient associated with them, called the CTR (click through ratio).

Basically, what it translates to is that if a large proportion of your site's visitors click the ads you'll be making more money. And the best way to do this is to have some popular content in your site, ensuring the links direct users towards popular items as well.

Then of course, there's the position and number of ads on your website. While you don't want to overdo it, having many links will undoubtedly generate more income for you as a webmaster. Do not however believe, that if you just add a lot of ads in an important portion of your site, visitors could always just skip them (and be assured that many do just that).

There's something between an art and a science to positioning your ads. People generally look in certain places and never look in others, and knowing this a website author and/or webmaster can do a great deal of things to increase his earnings with AdSense.

All in all, the amount of money you make with AdSense depends on many factors. But if you have a site with interesting contents and/or many pages, and if you see a constantly large amount of traffic every day, you can bet you'll be making a lot of money with AdSense.

Even if you aren't in the above categories, AdSense is still worth using because there's very little hassle in setting it up, and many times it can help financially support the site, whilst being a nice bonus to get through the post at the end of the month.

The Google ads you which you can display on your content pages can be moreover cost-per-click (CPC) or cost-per-1000-impressions (CPM) ads, while AdSense for search results pages show entirely CPC ads. This resources that advertisers pay either when users snap on ads, or when the advertiser's ad is publicized on your site. You will receive a segment of the amount compensated for either bustle on your website. Although Google don't divulge the exact revenue share, the goal is to enable publishers to make as much or more than they could with other marketing networks.
The best way to find out how much you'll earn is to sign up and start showing ads on your webpages. There's no cost, no obligation, and getting started is quick and easy. You can sign up now from the AdSense home page.
Once you're a part of Google AdSense, you can view your earnings at any time by logging in to your account and clicking the Reports tab. You'll be able to see the total number of page and ad unit impressions, ad clicks, clickthrough rate, effective CPM, and your total earnings so you can get an idea of how well the program is performing for you and how much you can expect to earn over time in the program.

Take a Web break: Watch a video, play a game, learn something new

After a long day at work as a professional moving planner, Bonnie Marks doesn't have the patience to sit through an hourly newscast on television to catch stories that matter to her.

Instead, the 38-year-old mother of two prefers to go online to news sources, such as CNN and MSNBC.

"Watching news on TV just takes too long," explains Marks. "With the Internet, I have the freedom to pick and choose what I want to watch—information that's relevant to me."

Marks says she also enjoys e-mailing funny video clips to her friends, and she watches movie trailers online to make sure that the content is appropriate for her kids. And she is not alone. Thousands of Web surfers have discovered that the Internet is an endless source of interesting videos.

Why Web video?
Unlike television, online video lets you choose when the action starts and stops (or pauses); it's accessible wherever you have an Internet-connected computer (try watching stand-up comedy during your lunch break at work); and you can view personalized content from all over the world (in your native language). You can even watch comedian Amy Sedaris learn (sort of!) all about the 2007 Microsoft Office system from her rabbits on the Microsoft Video Portal.

Full-length movies and television shows are now well established on the Internet—some even in high definition.

What you need
Watching video on the Web is a fairly easy process—providing that you have the right setup.

For hardware, it's recommended that you have a high-speed (broadband) Internet or DSL connection (rather than a telephone-based dial-up service), as video can be quite choppy to watch on slower speeds.

When it comes to software, you simply need a Web browser, like Windows Internet Explorer. Depending on the site that's hosting the video you've selected, you may also need a media player installed on your PC, such as Windows Media Player. If you clicked Windows Media file, the program will automatically open in a separate window for you. You can choose to watch it in full-screen mode, if you like, by double-clicking the video.

Windows Media Player supports many popular video file types, such as those with the extension .WMV, .AVI, .MPEG, and DivX files (with a free plug-in), but some videos may require another program. For instance, .RV video files require RealPlayer, while .QT or .MOV files require QuickTime.

You might also be asked to select a specific speed, such as 100K, 300K, or 500K. This refers to the speed of the video as it streams to your PC. You can tell how fast your download speeds are with free online tools, such as the one provided on MSN. It takes about eight seconds to complete, and your speed is shown in an easy-to-read graph. So, when you're faced with specific speed choices and you have broadband, try to go with the fastest one first to see how smoothly the video begins streaming.

If a video doesn't play, you will likely find a note on the site about the program you need to play the file. The site may also include a link to download that program.

Sometimes you'll have the option to download a video and save it to your hard drive instead of watching it in your browser. To play the clip offline, you'll need one of the media players mentioned above.

Happy viewing
Here are a few recommended video sites to get you started:

Epicurious (cooking techniques and chef videos)
DIY Network (wide range of topics, from designing your home to selecting a real estate agent)
Oprah.com Video (clips from past shows, divided into categories)
MSN Video (news and entertainment)
Microsoft Video Portal (tips and tricks for using Microsoft software, fun videos, and ads, including the popular Bill Gates/Jerry Seinfeld ads)
Spike (movie trailers, entertainment news, and online gaming)
Weather.com (weather-related video clips)
Podcast.com (audio and video podcast directory for news, self-enrichment, and popular culture)
WindowsMedia.com (entertainment videos)
Hulu (feature films, and current and archived TV programs)
YouTube (amateur videos, TV programs, music, and film clips)
Netflix (expansive collection of feature films, documentaries, TV programs—available for instant download)

Involve yourself
Watching isn't the only way to engage with the Web. Perhaps you're in the mood for something a little more interactive? You can test your wits against an array of puzzles, riddles, and logic games at BrainBashers. At JigZone, you can spend a little time (or a lot!) working out jigsaw puzzles, and you determine the complexity level. The site also lets you upload your own photos and convert them into puzzles. The best part is that you never lose a piece under the rug.

The popularity of Sudoku has exploded lately, and the number of Web sites satisfying the craving has kept pace. Two of the best are Sudoku.com, which offers games and variations at all difficulty levels, and Sudoku Online, where you can also hone your word smarts with acrostics, cryptograms, and other puzzles.

You might also spend your Web break brushing up on old skills—or learning a new one. As a medium for learning at your own pace, the Internet is hard to beat, whether you're working toward a graduate degree or just getting tips on your golf swing. DIY Network presents step-by-step how-tos on everything from growing better tomatoes and installing a sink to knitting a scarf and building a deck.

On the Web, the old cliché "something for everybody" really applies. Here are a few more free learning sites worth exploring:

5 Reasons Why Beginner Internet Marketers Sometimes Fail

John Neyman

Reason 1: Beginner Internet marketers sometimes set unrealistic goals for themselves. Set goals for yourself that you can easily attain. By setting and achieving reasonable goals, you build confidence in yourself and your abilities. This allows you to confidently set ever-increasing goals that you can regularly meet. People who set unrealistic goals often fail in Internet marketing because they get discouraged when they do not achieve their goals. After getting discouraged month after month, they often believe they cannot succeed and they stop trying. Don't let this happen to you.Reason 2: Beginner Internet marketers often lack a unique product. If you want to be really successful in Internet marketing you need a unique product that you can call your own. Having a unique product allows you to harness the power of affiliate marketing. Having hundreds of marketers actively promoting your product allows you to multiply your efforts on a huge scale.Reason 3: Beginner Internet marketers often lack commitment to success. If you want to be successful in Internet marketing you have to make a commitment to becoming successful. This means setting time aside each day for your Internet marketing activities and, more importantly, performing those activities each day without fail. You cannot expect to achieve any level of success in Internet marketing if you can't commit yourself to doing the very things that you need to do to be successful each and every day without exceptions. It's that important.Reason 4: Beginner Internet marketers sometimes get caught up in the details. It is important that you know what kind of tasks you are good at. Don't make the same mistake that countless other Internet marketers make of trying to do everything yourself. There are places online where you can hire inexpensive help, on a per project basis, to perform the tasks that you are not an expert in. For instance, if you are good with graphics programs, then go ahead and do your own graphics. Otherwise, contract the graphics out and spend your valuable time doing something you are good at. The same can be said for web design or copywriting. The point here is that you do what you do best, and you can inexpensively hire others to do the rest. You won't believe how inexpensive it can be and how fast you can put it all together.Reason 5: Beginner Internet marketers sometimes plan themselves to death (paralysis by analysis). If you want to be a successful Internet marketer, at some point you will have to put a plan into action. Once you have formulated your plan you must be able to take the next step and put that plan into operation. There are so many Internet marketers who come up with a good idea, formulate a plan and never put that plan into action because they constantly analyze and refine that plan - without end. This is called paralysis by analysis. This is not to say that your marketing plan doesn't need careful consideration and analysis. It does. At some point the analysis must stop and the action must begin. Don't be afraid to take that first action. You will be amazed at how much easier each successive action becomes. In conclusion, you might be asking yourself why you should follow these recommendations. That's a fair question. Many marketers have made each of the mistakes described above and have learned a great deal from those mistakes. This was written so that you could also learn from these mistakes. The choice is yours. Our services at leaders excel include any where from a personal website to an elite Premium business package website. What Is Keyword Stuffing, Actually?

Search engine optimization best practices can get confusing if you don’t understand the terms, or if you do understand and you employ incorrectly. Of course, it can be confusing even if you do everything right.

Let’s take a look at keyword stuffing, for instance. It seems like a pretty straightforward concept and in many ways it is. But a webmaster can get confused trying to figure out just how their content ended up with too many keywords even though they tried their best to avoid that happening.

Unfortunately, the discussion around keyword stuffing is often mixed in with discussion on keyword density. But it doesn’t have to be.

Keyword density if often described as the proper amounts of keyword compared to the amount of text on your web page. If you have 100 words of text and one instance of your keyword then your keyword density is 1%. If you go back and add five more instances of your keyword then your keyword density becomes 5%.

SEO gurus used to teach that a keyword density of 2%-5% was ideal. Some still do. But the problem with that is it means content producers must spent their time counting keywords. But if you look at how web pages are ranked you’ll see that titles and URL carry a lot of weight. There are other factors weighed heavily by search engines as well. But the number of keywords per 100 words of text is a bit of an olf-fashioned way of measuring keyword effectiveness.

Keyword stuffing happens whenever a webmaster takes a page with mediocre ranking and adds keywords to it for the purpose of ranking it higher in the search engines. But such a practice has a relatively low level of return. You are often better off optimizing a new page on your website using a particular keyword phrase and just doing a better job of managing your keywords.

It is often believed that keyword stuffing is black hat or that it is on shaky ethical grounds. Not true. Just because you added keywords to your text doesn’t mean you are stuffing. But it doesn’t mean you’ll be successful either. Keyword stuffing is best described as the process of adding keywords to text (often where unnecessary) for the purpose of getting a page to rank better in the search engines. Webmasters do this because they believe that numbers - that is, keyword density - count.

You should really only go back and add keywords to your web pages to make them more readable and not worry about ranking higher. If you follow Google’s guidelines you shouldn’t have too many problems ranking your web pages.

How Google Is Making Local Business Better

The specific data you’ll be able to track includes:

If you run a local business, things just got better for you. Google has announced that it will now start providing Google Analytics data for businesses that are listed in its Local Business Center.

Number of impressions your LBC profile receives via Google.com search or Maps search.
The number of actions people take to interact with your business listing.
Top search queries used to find your listing.
Zip codes where driving directions came from.

The value of this information extends far beyond mere search. The zip code information, for instance, could be used to help you add business locations. If you see a lot of queries coming from a specific zip code and you know that residents in that zip code have a long way to travel to get to your office, you could open up a satellite office in that zip code or a new business location.

Just like with Google Analytics and any website you own, knowing the top search queries to find you is smart for future optimization reasons. So, in a word, this information is valuable to you and now you have access to this information through your Local Business Center listing. Take full advantage of it.

Web Hosting For Your Business

Many new Webmasters decide that using a free Web site host or a free blog host is a cost-effective way to build a Web site. For personal sites, free hosts and free blog hosts can be acceptable, but for business sites, that's a completely different story.

Free hosts and blog hosts make their money by cramming as many sites onto their servers as possible, which very often slows down the servers to a crawl. Also, free hosts and blog hosts will often insert advertisements into the pages of the Web sites that are hosted on their servers. The biggest drawback of free hosts and blog hosts is their lack of support though. Free hosts and blog hosts simply do not provide the level of service that is needed for hosting business sites.

One hosting service that offers great services at a reasonable price is Bright Byte Internet. This company has been in business since 2001, and they specialize in business hosting at affordable rates. Their customer service is friendly and knowledgeable, and they offer some fantastic hosting plans. They also offer very cheap domain names and SSL certificates.

The thing that really sets Bright Byte apart is their reseller hosting plans though. These plans start at just $9.00, and they let you host an unlimited number of Web sites. That is an amazing value, because many Web hosts charge that much for hosting a single site. It's a great way to start building your own network of sites or to start hosting sites for other people.

Money Making Online is Simple isn?t it?

Russell Marsh

It seems that lots of people are being sucked into the idea that you can quite simply make a lot of money by having a computer that?s connected to the Internet. Knock up a website and wait for the money to pour in. If I were you I?d re-think that strategy if it is your genuine intention to make money online.

I think everybody realizes now that Yes an Internet business run from home can make a lot of money and generate virtually automatic profits for years to come if done right. The important thing that is always going to separate the money makers from the losers in online marketing is always going to be how much effort is applied. Initially, setting up an online business may well involve working more hours than is normally considered to be "full time" but these extra hours can always be trimmed away as you make some money to re-invest in your business to automate some of the everyday time consuming jobs.

It?s easy to find a business on the Internet. There are plenty of opportunities where you get virtually a business in a box. This will include all kinds of tools to help run this business but if you are to make any money from this business then there is one major consideration that you will need to take care of and that is marketing. Your replicated page will look very nice but will never make any money if nobody sees it.

If you are considering an online business then first of all take a tour of a few websites such as CarbonCopyPRO, Infogoround, SureFire Wealth and others to see what?s around. It?s now common practice for business opportunity web sites to initially guide you to a lead capture page as the first point of access. The whole point of this is to get your contact details as many people will not join a business opportunity on their first visit so to maximize the money making potential from each visitor they want your email address for their autoresponder which will remind you about the opportunity over a period of time and keep trying to coax you back to the web site. Don?t be scared to give you details (you won?t find out much unless you do..) Each follow up message will always include an unsubscribe link so you can stop the messages any time you feel like it. Home Businesses are very rarely instantly profitable so perhaps the best plan would be to join under a proven leader so at least you?ll have access to the best marketing advice, especially if your Sponsor gets an over-ride from your efforts.

Most people don?t consider this but before starting out on the Internet take a backward step and look back over your life so far. I?m willing to bet that every reader has a special skill that could easily be a money maker but they probably just never considered it. I?ll bet you have a "certain way" you do a certain job that saves time or "learned to deal with that certain problem" that lots of people would consider valuable. Your unique skill or talent could be a real money maker so just think about it and consider carefully what you can offer.

Many people start off making money on the Internet by being an affiliate for other people?s products. There are lots of sites such as Clickbank and Commission Junction where you can sign up for free and start to promote other peoples stuff for as much as 70% commission. You can take advantage of that by joining sites that sell content and ideas you can modify to suit your specific niche or segment. These days it?s very easy to start a home business in just a few minutes to hours, but the number one thing you must do is have a marketing plan before you start. Then use reputable content sites, article sites, and proven non spam marketing tactics to get your business out there on the web and making money for you.

Making money online is not, as the title suggested, easy and the one thing that will stop you from making any money is definitely the lack of a proper Business Plan. You need to know what you are going to be doing every day before you start. Lets face it, you wouldn?t start a bricks and mortar business without a proper plan and advice would you? So why should you approach an Online Business any differently? Get yourself a real Plan of Action and Stick to it. This is the surest route to making money online.

CarbonCopyPRO IS The best online business. (http://helpandinfo.com/real-business/making-money.php) Making Money without calling anybody! His main website is full of free information on (http://www.helpandinfo.com/) how to make money online He is giving away FREE php websites to his Team.

Business Blogging - Setting Up Your Blog To Maximize Your Results Online by rockeyjakes

Organizing your blog and your blog posts will make a difference in how well you are perceived on the internet. By simply taking the time to plan, you can have a blog that represents you well and provides valuable and interesting content to your readers. Business blogging is serious business, so see it as an opportunity to present yourself and your topic in the best possible way. Here are some things to think about, whether you have been blogging for several years or are new to the blogosphere.

Think about the overall design of your blog when you are choosing the colors, graphics, and layout. Will it appeal to your target audience. People make decisions subconsciously when they arrive at your blog.

Categories - Choose the categories that you will write about very carefully. These words and phrases are keywords that will help your readers to find your blog when they are searching on the internet. Having the right categories will also make it easier for people to find the information they are looking for when they visit your site. They can simply click on the category name and read all of the posts you have made under that category.

Sidebar column - You will want to have two columns on your blog. The left column will contain all of your blog posts and the right column will be your sidebar. This is where you can add links to other sites, and your opt-in box will be in the upper right-hand corner of the sidebar. This configuration is best for search engine optimization and will make it easier to build your list by collecting the names and email addresses of your visitors.

Opt-in box - Be sure to offer a free report, eBook, or audio file in exchange for the person's contact information. This can be just a few pages long if it is in writing, or thirty minutes or less if it is an audio recording. This will also give you an additional opportunity to tell your new prospect more about yourself and what you do.

Picture - Include a picture of yourself so that people can begin to connect with you immediately when they reach your blog. A headshot, or one from the waist up is best so that people can see what you look like.

Title - Choose a title for your blog that tells people exactly what your blog is about. You will also want to have a tag line that includes your name, as well as a benefit your blog will provide to your readers.

Domain name - This name can be the same as your title, but it does not have to be. Choose a domain name that contains at least one of your keywords, is not too long, easy to spell, and easy to remember. This is not as easy as it sounds because so many domain names have already been taken. Your first choice should also be a dot com domain name, because people are so used to using that extension.

Social media - Becoming active in sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites will make it much easier for you to attract readers to your blog. Spend your time on these sites wisely or will find that they take up a disproportionate number of hours each day.

Posting schedule - Make a schedule to post to your blog, and then stick with it. You may want to have one day to do book reviews and another to answer your readers questions. Post as often as you possibly can to make your blog content rich.

Using these ideas as a guide will help you to establish yourself online as a blogger of influence. Get started today and enjoy the benefits of building your online business through blogging.

Tips You Should Consider When purchasing an AdSense Site

Tips You Should Consider When purchasing an AdSense Site! by rockeyjakes

There are hundreds of thousands of web templates out there, but not all of them make for good AdSense templates. As the popularity of Google's AdSense program grew, many web designers started creating templates that allow for easy contextual ad integration. Making money online is now a possibility, and you can win cash in no time with AdSense, once your business is set up. And there's really not a lot that you need to work from home using AdSense. Here are a few tips you should consider when purchasing an AdSense website template:

* The best Google AdSense templates are the simple ones. Forget Flash animations and complex menus and go for clear structures and logical link placements.
* Don't choose flashy graphics, and don't use a lot of photographs, as these divert the visitor's attention from the ads.
* The best places to ad your contextual ads are the top of the site, below the banner, the left side menu and the center of the site. Your chosen Google Adsense template should allow for easy ad integration in these areas.
* Personalize your AdSense templates if you wish, but this is not going to make you more online cash. The best way to increase your AdSense revenue is to experiment with ad placement and colors until you see the best CTRs.
* You may think that, out of all work from home jobs and online job opportunities, Google AdSense is the least complicated one - true, but only after you manage to understand all the subtleties behind the system. This is why you should go with a Google AdSense template that plays by the rules and is not too complex or extravagant - you can develop funkier sites in the future, but for now stick with a simple hierarchy and logical structure.

AdSense ready website information

Purchasing an AdSense ready website is a good idea, especially if you don't know much about web development, but there are a few things to take care of. There are basically two types of AdSense ready websites - the duplicate content websites which get sold over and over and custom-made, original AdSense ready websites. Let's have a look at both of them:

Recycled Google AdSense ready website - let's call them recycled because they get used over and over and over. You can purchase 10, 50 or 150 websites, each with hundreds of pages, for less than $100! Of course, these websites get sold, in their exact same form, to hundreds or thousands of other people. While these Google AdSense ready website offers are great because they offer a good structure and are designed to allow for easy and efficient contextual ad integration, they also rank lower in the search engine results.

This is because they have duplicate content - hundreds of people have the same site as you, only hosted on a different server and under a different domain name. However, what you loose in search engine rankings you make up in structure and content quality. And with a few dozen Google AdSense ready websites like these, you only need to handle some high quality link exchanges, or get visitors on your sites through the other program offered by Google to advertisers - AdWords.

Unique content AdSense ready websites are the other option. You will most likely pay a few hundred dollars for a unique website with 15-25 pages of original content. Instead of a hundred duplicate content websites you will have just one original website.

It's hard to say which option will allow you to earn more from your online business, but it's clear that your unique content website will outrank duplicate content in the search engines. An original AdSense ready website offers a more stable income level, and you can grow it into a top ranking site in time. Your online earnings will depend on numerous factors, but one thing is for sure - the search engines will love your site for bringing new content to the Internet and will reward you by ranking it higher.

Promoting Business over the Internet.

Did you realize there are only three types of online promotion?... This statement may seem odd and even untrue in your mind, but I am speaking in more general terms than you might be thinking.

Let me explain.

The three types of promotion are Junk, Active and Passive promotions.

JUNK PROMOTIONS ARE MONEY PITS

Junk promotions are those that seem to produce results, but by their very nature are really only illusionary promotions.

For example, let me begin with FFA (Free For All) pages. You might find yourself subscribing to a submission program that tricks you into believing you are submitting your links to tens of thousands search engines.

According to the Open Directory website, they have only approved
1705 search engines and directories for inclusion in their database (http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/).

I like using the DMOZ directory as an example because submitted links are tested by human beings with integrity, for the honesty used in site description. Search Engine Watch and other search watchers tend to show fewer than these 1705 engines, primarily because a lot of the engines provide very little value.

Yes, you can submit your URL to a FFA page, but FFA's usually only permit 100 or 1000 links on their page at any one time. So, if ten thousand people are submitting a link to an FFA page on a daily basis, then the average life of your link is between seven minutes and 144 minutes. I suspect the actual number of submitters is much higher and the results are much worse. Given that few people surf FFA pages, the chances of your submission being of any real value is practically nill!

Most of the people telling you that you can submit your site to tens of thousands of search engines are truly only submitting your site to FFA pages! Beware of the false promises.

Another junk promotion method is Safe Lists. A safe list is a mailing group that is signed up to be received by people who want to submit their own ads. Now, most safe lists have thousands of subscribers who are able to submit their ads daily or weekly. The person signed up to receive the list will receive anywhere from twenty to 140+ messages a day from the list. These messages will be received by people only interested in promoting their own thing who do not have the right motivation to open, let alone read Your Advertising. As a result, thousands of messages go out daily or weekly that will never be seen by anyone but the sender of the ad. Where is the value in that?
There is none.

ACTIVE PROMOTIONS

Active promotions are the type that require you to go out on a daily basis or a weekly basis and put out your advertisements.
With active promotions, you will either place your advertising or you will not sell your products or services. Your choice is simple --- work or starve.

Examples of active promotions include Pay Per Click Search Engines (PPCSE's), Direct Email, Ezine Advertising, Solo Ezine Ads, Newsletter Publishing, Ezine Ad Swaps, Classified Ads, Auctions, Site Sponsorship and Banner Ads.

Some people are able to utilize these methods very productively, while others are destined to drop their money into the bottomless pit of failed Internet promotions.

PASSIVE PROMOTIONS

Passive promotions are those promotions that can continue to provide results for you long after you have invested the work to make them available to the Internet community.

Examples of passive promotions include: Link Exchanges, Articles, Ebooks, Content Exchanges and Writing Testimonials for others.

Let's look at articles as a solid example of my point.

You are reading an article that I have written to promote my own business. This article is timeless and therefore could have been written five years ago and still have been as valuable as it is today.

Due to the fact that the article is timeless, it can and will be placed in newsletters/ezines and their accompanying online archives, on websites and in ebooks for many more years to come.

As a result, this article will continue to serve me well beyond the time in which I wrote it and submitted it to publishers and webmasters for public consumption and publication.

This is the best example I can give you of an excellent passive promotional method.

AVOID THE MONEY PITS

Many try and even fewer succeed to conquer the Internet and to produce their dreams of online wealth.

My hope is that you will be one of the people who conquer the challenges before you and to make a nice living while working online. It will take drive, determination, study plus trial and error, but you can make it work for you.

Please continue to educate yourself so that you can avoid the money pits - instead, strive to find the money barrels. It can be done. I am living proof.

Offline Promotion Strategies

No business can survive the long run without some form of
consistent advertising. As a result, most business owners will
eventually consider using advertising to promote their business.

The toughest part of the advertising equation is in determining
where and how to spend your advertising dollars. If you do it
wrong, you could plunk down your entire advertising budget and
receive absolutely no return on your investment. But, if you do
it right, your advertising could continue to bring a nice return
for years to come.

HOW DO I MAKE THE RIGHT ADVERTISING DECISIONS

In order to make good decisions concerning how to spend your
advertising budget, you must first have a good understanding of
the different types of advertising and promotion available and
what can be expected to be achieved by each.

· You must understand which markets the different media`s can
reach.
· You must understand the demographics of the media`s
consumers.
· You must understand the buying habits of the consumers
reached through the media.

WHAT OFFLINE ADVERTISING & PROMOTION MEDIA`S SHOULD BE CONSIDERED

The media`s that people think of most often are television,
radio, newspaper and magazine advertising. Of course, these are
the big boys that big businesses use regularly.

Other methods of promotion include trade shows, press releases,
direct sales, telemarketing, word of mouth, branding and
billboard advertising.

CONSIDERING THE BIG MEDIA OUTLETS

The big boys of advertising media`s generally cost big bucks.
Given certain circumstances, the big media`s can be bought for
very little money.

Take for example, television, radio and newspapers cost big
bucks during their prime times, but can be bought for pennies on
the dollar during non-primetime hours.

Television primetime is between 7pm and 10pm. Radio primetime is
between 7am and 6pm. With newspapers, the primetime is
Wednesdays and Sundays.

If you intend to hit a media during prime time, get ready to
drop some bucks. Primetime means that you will be able to hit
more consumers during these times. So, in most cases, a
primetime buy will enable you to reach more people with your
advertising.

Non-primetime hours can still deliver a lot of eyes and ears to
your message, and sometimes, these off-hours can be bought for a
bargain basement price.

GETTING MILEAGE FROM EVENTS

Trade shows and press releases are more event-driven. The trade
show is the event, while the press release generally exploits an
event.

Trade shows are an exceptional tool when you deal directly with
potential sellers of your products or services. Other shows are
directed at the consumer, and those can be very valuable avenues
for sales as well.

The press release is aimed towards gaining attention for a
business by distributing newsworthy information about the
business.

Sometimes the appearance of a business at a trade show or other
show can provide the necessary angle for a press release. But
most often, a successful press release will actually require
more noteworthy information than the appearance of a business at
a show.

Yet, even the most mundane of information could be spiced up to
give the real air of importance necessary to get your press
release read and printed.

The great thing about a press release is that might permit you
to get relatively inexpensive promotion on television, radio,
newspapers and magazines; for far less than what it would cost
you to buy advertising in those same outlets.

UTILIZING A SALES TEAM

Depending on what type of business you run and the consumers you
are trying to reach, you might find direct sales and
telemarketing to be very lucrative ways to drive sales to your
business.

Both are very similar in nature. Direct sales can be very
expensive, as it requires a great investment of time to
accomodate. Telemarketing seeks to minimize the time
expenditure, but it often leads to a smaller degree of respect
and attention.

Depending on your product or service --- and always depending
upon the people you employ to the task --- each method will be
more suited to each business on an individual basis.

BRANDING YOUR BUSINESS

I grouped branding and billboard advertising together in my
original list for a reason. I did this because billboard
advertising serves most businesses best by helping to support
the process of branding.

Branding is the process of establishing your business as the
supplier of a certain product or service, or in emphasizing a
certain USP (Unique Selling Proposition) as it pertains to your
business.

If branding and USP seems to be a confusing concept, think about
Wal-Mart and their tag line: "Always Low Prices, Always."

Think about Ford Motors, "Quality is Job One."

Think about the Visa Card, "It`s Everywhere You Want To Be."

You see, these top corporations have managed to make their USP
part of their branding.

Even if you are only competing in a local marketplace, your USP
can and should fit snugly into your branding strategy.

NO MATTER THE MEDIA OR METHOD

Whichever method or media you should choose to employ in your
advertising and promotion, you should become knowledgable about
your market, and the consumers reached by each media. It is
important to understand which consumers can be reached by a
certain media, and in what quantities.

However you choose to spend your advertising dollars, you should
always track the results of your promotional efforts. Failing to
track successes and failures will ultimately lead to the failure
of a business.

When you know whom you are trying to reach and how you think you
might be able to reach them, you will begin to learn how to use
advertising and promotion to make your business successful. That
is a good thing --- after all, that is why you got into the
business in the first place, isn`t it?

How to Win the Advertising and Promotion Game

I am certain that, as a business owner, you have often
entertained the question as to how much to spend and where to
spend your advertising dollars. For most small business owners,
these questions can add to the headaches suffered in the course
of normal everyday operations of their business.

THERE ARE NO SIMPLE ANSWERS

The how much to spend and where to spend it questions have no
easy answers.

Depending on your type of business, many people suggest that the
*how much* should be equal to anywhere from 4% to 10% of your
gross receipts.

The quandary is that a business cannot survive without a fresh
flow of incoming customers. But, a business can seldom generate
a fresh stream of customers without spending money to get the
word out about their business.

THE CHALLENGE OF DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE ADVERTISING

Have you ever paid for advertising and sat back to await the
fresh flow of customers, only to find yourself sitting and
sitting and then sitting some more?

Don't feel bad about that. It has happened to many of us before.

See, knowing where to spend the advertising money is not enough
to get the job done.

Where to spend the money only begins to highlight the other
issues connected with advertising:

· Marketing Plan
· Advertising Strategy
· Headlines, Ad Copy and Visual Presentation
· Tracking the Success of Your Advertising Campaigns

THE MARKETING PLAN

The Marketing Plan is used primarily to identify your own
products and services, costs, strengths, weaknesses and the
strengths and weaknesses of your competitors.

ADVERTISING STRATEGY

It is important to understand what you expect to gain from your
advertising.

Do you simply wish to get your name known so that when your
customer will need you, they will think of you first? Or, do you
wish to get your customers in your front door on Saturday?

Do you want your customers to come in and take a look around to
discover the next object that they cannot live without? Or, do
you want them to come in and buy a specific widget?

Do you hope that enough people will come in to buy enough
products or services to pay for your single ad? Or, do you
expect to gain a lifelong customer who will help pay for your
advertising over the course of several years?

When you know what you want, then you will better understand
just how to do it.

HEADLINES, AD COPY AND VISUAL PRESENTATION

You might be surprised how many business owners put out
advertising without regard for the quality of the sales pitch or
presentation. The quality of your distribution outlet or the
amount of money you spent to get there will do little for you if
the advertising vehicle is a junker.

Test all of your advertising materials in smaller markets before
blowing your advertising bank roll on it. You must absolutely
know the value of your advertising before putting large sums of
money behind it.

TRACKING THE SUCCESS OF YOUR ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS

Tell your customers to save another 10% when they tell you they
heard or saw your ad in such-and-such location. Suggest that
they can register to win a free widget if they fill out a form
and have them to tell you how they heard of your business.
Advertise a specific widget in your ad and track the sales of
that widget.

It does not matter how you track your advertising --- just make
sure you do it!

IN SUMMARY

The ideal way to spend your advertising budget is to buy a rifle
with a high-powered scope and to only shoot your targets in the
light of day.

If you are not tracking your advertising, then you are shooting
a pellet gun without an attached scope, with blinders on, and
shooting in the dead darkness of night.

Even with a bigger gun, the blinders in the dark constitute the
single largest mistake made by advertisers. If you are unable to
track your advertising to learn what is working well, what is
working somewhat, and what is a money pit, then you are
condemned to repeat your mistakes over and again.

By relying only on gut instinct, you may be choosing to spend
more money in the money pit and to lose all of your money in the
process.

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of making money from
your advertising, you should plan, prepare, track and study your
results. You must have factual information on which to base your
advertising decisions. When you are making the right advertising
decisions, then making money from your business might just come
easy.

Fast-Track Your Journey to Home Business Success

No one has ever logged onto the Internet for the first time and
started pocketing dollars in a really short period of time. As
with all things in life, there is a learning curve.

SOME PERSONAL HISTORY

Just a few short years ago, I was a working stiff just like you.

One day, I bought and read a book called "Multiple Streams of
Income" by bestselling author, Robert Allen. Immediately, I
began my journey.

Every night after work and after my wife and children went to
sleep, I would get online and explore different ways of using the
Internet to make money.

In the two years that followed, I spent over $10,000 racking up
credit card debt buying eBooks, membership sites, special
reports, opt-in leads, and joining every "guru" recommended
business opportunity that flew into my email inbox.

I stayed up learning, working, and drinking coffee until 5:00 in
the morning, month after month filled with the hope of making
money online.

In my third year of working part-time to build a home based
income, I finally broke through and earned over $100,000 in just
twelve months from the Internet.

BECOME THE MASTER OF YOUR LEARNING CURVE

Research the lives of all of the "gurus." The one thing that
you will learn is that my own experience is not unique. Most of
the high earners on the Internet experienced a learning curve
very similar to my own.

Chances are that your curve will also be similar to mine, but it
is my hope that you can get to the top faster than even I did.
Three years was a long time to struggle, but every ounce of
struggle was worth the reward I have finally received.

In order to shorten your own learning curve, you must do a few
things differently than the rest of us did. You must become the
master of your learning curve.

THE SHORTEST DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO POINTS IS A STRAIGHT LINE

There is only one way to shorten the curve on the Internet:

You must plan to succeed!

Here is the deal. Most people put up a freebie website and select
a few affiliate programs to add to their website. Right out of
the gate, most people are running for the finish line without any
real plan in mind.

After a few short weeks, people begin to see the writing on the
wall that says, "This is going to be a long hard road."

People check their hit counters daily for six weeks before they
realize that getting traffic to their free site is going to be
tough.

At this point, they begin developing their first batch of
advertising. Then they spend countless months finding places to
show their advertisements for free. Some make an even more
drastic mistake by blowing thousands of hard earned dollars on
their new and untested ads.

These are the people who will learn the facts of life the hard
way.

In time, they will learn how to make their advertising work for
them, but most will earn very little money from their affiliate
programs.

At this point in the learning curve, most people throw up their
hands and walk away from their dreams in utter disgust. Instead
of a walking away point, this should have convinced the
struggling online entrepreneur that they were simply traveling
the wrong road.

YOU MUST PLAN TO SUCCEED

From day one, you must begin to learn about the nuances of web
promotion. Read everything you can get your hands on. Don't just
read the hype, back it up with the opinions of others who have
reviewed the same programs before you came along. Learn from
their mistakes and successes.

As you begin to learn, you must also look to make a decision. Do
you want to step into a pre-built program that is designed to
help you to succeed, OR do you want to create a completely new
program of which you are the sole owner?

If you decide to step into a pre-designed and complete turn-key
online money-making venture, then you must select the right
venture to step into. If this is your decision, I encourage you
to check out the Plug In Profit Site at:

If you decide to go the journey on your own, then do all of the
necessary research, planning and preparation that is needed for
your success.

PREPARE TO SUCCEED

Decide what you think you would want to do, and then figure out
how your planned site will generate a real income.

Internet old-timers know about hundreds of corporation domains
that existed with IPO millions, but did not have an actual money
plan that could sustain their business model. Most of these
companies were among the hundreds of companies that bellied up in
the 2000 dot bomb experience.

Don't blindly believe in your plan. Research others on the web
who have undertaken similar business models and see if they have
survived. Study your competitors in depth to learn what is
working for them and what did not work for them. To better
understand what has or has not worked for competitor websites,
check out their time lapsed progressions using the Wayback
Machine: http://web.archive.org

Once you have determined your money plan, then you should
undertake the development of a business plan and a marketing
plan. Utilize professional assistance if you need to do so. While
creating your plans, make a determination as to which domain name
you think would be best, then register it along with a hosting
account. You can do this at Host4Profit in Step 2 on this page:
http://www.PlugInProfitSite.com/main-4145

Once you have developed your business plan and marketing plan and
have run them through several revisions, then it will be time to
buy your domain name and to begin work with a site designer and
developer. You may need to have your domain sitting on a web host
for your site developer, but this is not always necessary. While
they are doing their work, enlist a copywriter to help you with
your site sales copy.

When your site designer and developer have your site working, you
should then undertake significant testing to make sure everything
works as planned. It is much harder to fix problems on a
operational site than it is to fix problems on a site that has
yet to be launched.

When testing is done, then you should fill in your sales copy and
then shoot for launch. Of course, you already have a marketing
plan in place, so your preparation here will be simply a matter
of putting the pieces of the puzzle into place.

You are finally ready to open for business. Don't be afraid to
spend the money to bring your dream alive. Time can replace money
in the goal of starting a profitable online business, but money
invested can shave years off of your company's growth.

Understanding the Difference between Marketing & Promotion

Are you an online marketer? Or do you simply promote affiliate programs? Marketing is truly the most misunderstood word in use today on the Internet. Let me see if I can clarify this issue just a bit.

In Marketing 101 at your local university, marketing is actually the process of Product, Place, Price and Promotion.

PRODUCT

No business can exist without a product or service to sell.

In a nutshell, entrepreneurs are the people who believe in a product, service or idea, so much that they are willing to invest their lives into the development of their dream.

Historically, every major corporation in the world was started by an entrepreneur with a dream and the drive to make it a reality.

However, there comes a time in the life of every corporation when those who fear the gambling nature of their founder, squash the entrepreneurial drive that made the company a viable concern in the first place. The entrepreneur will either submit to the careful nature of the stockholders, or he will be forced to leave the company he created.

The only entrepreneurs who withstand the pressure to move more carefully are those who have maintained majority control over their companies.

PLACE

In the offline world, place is defined by location. On the Internet, place is defined by domain name and the web hosting service chosen.

Both online and offline, place can make or break a company without respect to the quality and value of the product, service or idea.

PRICE

Selecting a price is determined first on a basis of whether the company wants to be seen as a discount or a value company.

Take for example Wal-Mart and Staples.

Wal-Mart is the lead discounter in the marketplace. Staples on the other hand is the specialist in office supplies.

Both sell a significant number of office supplies despite the fact that the lowest price can usually be found at Wal-Mart. As a value dealer, Staples can afford to charge more for their products than Wal-Mart.

So the question for you is whether you want to position your company as a discount or value company.

Testing has shown that products and services can be sold at any number of prices and still reach a significant number of people.

The challenge of selecting the best price for your product or service will require a certain amount of testing.

UNDERSTANDING THE PRICING EQUATION

Let`s assume we are selling a product. Let us also assume that we know that the product can be sold for $10 or $50. Let us also assume that if the price dips below $10 or rises above $50, then the product sales fall off significantly.

Our challenge is to determine the best rate at which to sell our product.

Testing has shown us that we can sell 1000 items a week at $10.
Testing has also shown that we can sell 500 items per week at $50. And testing has shown that we can sell 650 items per week at $45.

At $10, our projected weekly earnings are $10,000. When we sell the product at $50, we know that we can earn $25,000 per week.
Most importantly, we know that we can earn $29,250 when our product is priced at $45.

With the imaginary testing we have done on our imaginary product, we can easily see that selling our product at $45 per item will earn us more money over the long haul.

Thus, when we make the decision for a national rollout of our product, then we will price our product at $45.

Of course, this is a very simplistic analysis of the point I am trying to make. Though simple, I believe this analogy will help you understand the methods of developing a product`s prices.

PROMOTION

Promotion, on the other hand, is the process of notifying the consumers for your product or service of your availability to serve them.

Methods of promotion vary distinctly and should be arranged to meet very specific goals.

As with product, place and price, promotion should not be left to chance. You should test every ad, every media, and every price point to determine the best bang for your promotional dollars.

HEADS UP!

If you are an online promoter or marketer, please factor in the most important element concerning the cost of your promotions.

What element is that? Your time!

Value your time at a certain dollar amount, and figure in your time into the cost of your promotional accounting.

I say this because too many online promoters lose sight of this concept and spend 20 hours to generate one sale while using free advertising. Even if you rate your time at the federal minimum wage, then you will have invested $105 of your time for one sale that might only net you a gross sale of $45!

ARE YOU TRULY A MARKETER OR ARE YOU JUST A PROMOTER?

Most people who run a business on the Internet call themselves marketers. Yet, most of these same people are really just promoters wrapped in the label of a marketer.

True marketers do not promote without a lot of advance work.
They spend time planning, testing and measuring their actions and results to get the most out of every dollar spent and earned.

Entrepreneurs finesse the art of marketing as they build their company into a major enterprise.

If you are a promoter who does not keep an eye on the total marketing equation, then you are bound to fail.

If you do call yourself a marketer, then do what a professional marketer does. Make sure that every dollar spent is spent well.
Make sure that every dollar earned is put to good use. Market well so that when the people of the next generation look at your life, they will see a fine example of a successful entrepreneur that they will strive to emulate.

Networking Your Home Business within Circles of Influence

When you need an auto mechanic or an air conditioning repairman, where do you turn for help? Sure, some people turn to the yellow pages. But most will turn to friends and family and ask if they know of anyone who can do the work.

The best place for your business to be positioned is to be the business on the tips of the tongues of the people asked to make the referral.

THE 300 RULE

Preachers, funeral directors and people in a few other professions have learned "the 300 rule" through their own personal experience.

"The 300 rule" states that the average person knows 300 people on a friendly level. Wedding planners tend to make reservations for 300 guests. Funeral directors tend to need to make room for 300 mourners. You get the idea.

DOODLING WITH CIRCLES OF INFLUENCE

Imagine your circle of friends, family and acquaintances, a.k.a.
your circle of influence. Now, draw your circle of influence as a circle on a blank piece of paper.

Next, contemplate the people in your parents` circle of influence. Some people who know your parents also know you.
Therefore, you will share some influence with the people your folks know. Now draw your parents` circle of influence on your piece of paper.

Your circle and your parents` circle will intersect in one area, although the larger majority of the two circles will not intersect. If you are like most people, the two circles on your page at this point looks very similar to the MasterCard logo.

Now imagine drawing a page full of intersecting circles, each circle representing the circle of influence of the people who are within your own circle of influence. Imagine trying to encapsulate an accurate rendering of where your circle and the circle of your friends will actually intersect.

Some circles will share a large area of space, while others will barely cover one another.

Actually, you can only imagine at this point what your piece of paper will look like. The actual layout of the circles imagined in this analogy is simply too overwhelming for the mind to comprehend.

THE BIG PICTURE

300 multiplied by 300 equals 90,000. By using the analogy of doodles in the previous section, the average person can actually network with up to 90,000 people! Even factoring in the overlap, one can still probably network with 50,000 people through their own circle of influence!

Simply amazing, isn`t it?

HERE IS THE SECRET TO YOUR SUCCESS

There are 300 people on this planet whom you have a reasonable amount of influence. Take advantage of this fact. Make darn sure that every person within your own circle of influence KNOWS that you are in business for yourself, and make sure they understand what your business offers.

When your friend is asked to make a referral, they will recommend you.

PASSIVE VERSUS ACTIVE REFERRAL NETWORKING

When people ask your friends for a referral and your friend mentions your business, that is passive referral networking.

Active referral networking is when you can get your friends go directly to their friends and say "Hey, I have a friend who just started a business. If you are in need of what he offers or you know someone who will need his services, would you please give my friend a call or make the referral to his business?"

If you can get even a portion of the people in your own circle of influence to actively refer your business, then you have built the foundation to build an advertising campaign even more effective than the average local television advertising campaign.

Think about that for a moment.

Most people only dream of reaching 50,000 potential customers with their television advertising dollars. You now have the knowledge to reach 50,000 people without spending a single penny.

Children in the Home Business Environment

Operating a home business is seldom easy and interruptions come in all shapes, sizes and forms.

Between the family, friends and neighbors who call or come by, and the telemarketers who insist on ringing your number off the hook, getting through the workday can be a real challenge.

When you introduce children into the home office environment, your productivity and patience can be seriously tested.

For example, right now my three-year old daughter is pulling on my shirt and begging me to read her a story. Clearly, Im in the middle of something important here, but how can I say no to those eyes? Ill be right back...

Ok, that wasnt so bad was it? Shes happy, Im happy (having bonded with my daughter) and now Im back to continue my conversation with you :-) Whats the lesson here? Flexibility is a major key to balancing your home business priorities with your familys needs.

I can tell you from first-hand experience that maintaining a deep level of concentration on work in a home business for long periods of time is next to impossible. Naptime does offer some reprieve, but any break from the kids is usually short lived.

Even with older children, summertime introduces new challenges with kids running in and out of the house all throughout the day.

I would like to share with you some of the tips I have discovered to help manage your home office with children in your midst. Since children of different ages pose different challenges, I will present my tips in terms of age groups.

OLDER CHILDREN AND TEENS

We will look at older children first since they pose the least challenge to our work productivity.

Children, who are old enough to understand the idea of schedules and chores, are old enough to understand the needs of your home business. Explain to your children that you do your work at home so that you can be near them when they need you. But also be sure they understand that you must do your work so that you will have the money necessary to keep your house, feed the family and to provide them with money for entertainment.

Once your children understand the necessity of your work, then outline a work schedule and explain it to them. Do make sure they understand that emergencies are definitely an acceptable reason to interrupt your work. Then make sure they understand that between hours x and y, you will be doing work --- and then hold them to respecting your schedule.

INFANTS

Infants will never understand your needs for work. But fortunately, babies do well under a schedule or routine. Instead of expecting your child to work around your schedule, schedule your work around the needs of your baby.

It is simple. Babies eat, sleep and poop. Sometimes they play.
Fortunately, babies sleep more than they do anything else.

Naptime offers the best advantage for getting your work done.
Get your baby into a routine of eat, sleep and play, and you will experience unexpected levels of productivity.

TODDLERS

If you have a toddler running around the house while you are operating your home business, then you may find that your hair turning gray or disappearing altogether. But, gray hair is a sign of character, right. ;-)

I am venturing to guess that the person who devised the door lock for the inside of the house did so because he had toddlers in his own home. Inside door locks should only be utilized when you are making that important phone call and your toddler is screaming for your attention. At all other times, your door should remain unlocked with your door open.

Develop a routine with your children for meal times, naptimes, and play times. Work these times into your work schedule and adhere to them. If you fail to keep appointments with your children, your children will have less respect for your work and do more to prevent you from the completion of your work.

Don`t be afraid to let your children sit in your lap while you are working. It helps them to feel wanted and it helps them to be a part of your daily life. There are times when it is okay for them to be sitting in your lap while you work, and at other times you need them out of your lap. Don`t be afraid to tell them to get down and go play or read a book so that you can resume your work.

Permit your children to have their toys in your office. Often they will sit contently and play while you work. Just knowing you are near is enough to keep them happy.

Be prepared to take an hourly break to deal with your toddler.
Try to do potty breaks at your hourly break and to do drink refills. This can help your child grow into a routine that will work well with your home business. At each break, spend a few minutes with your child giving hugs and kisses and talking with your child about what he or she wants to talk about.

Toddlers don`t always do well with the routine, so be prepared to take a few minutes when needed to give the attention that your child so desperately needs in the moment.

IN CONCLUSION

I hope these tips serve to help you in the challenge of operating a successful home business.

My home business permits me to fulfill my financial obligations
*AND* see my children grow up. I would never contemplate trading my home business for another kind of business. Even with the added challenges of dealing with toddlers in my home office, the upsides far outweigh the downsides.

Growing my own home business with children around has definitely given me a new respect for all people who successfully run a home business with kids in the work environment. I tip my hat to you... You deserve it!

How to Stay Focused on Your Home Business Goals

When you are the owner of a home business, you will find hundreds of distractions that vie for your time, energy and focus.

Common distractions include: children, family, friends, neighbors, pets, phone calls, mail, household chores, video games, television, neighborhood children, visitors, and so many more.

As an owner of a home based business, you must always remember your purpose in bringing your profession home. What was your reason for wanting to own a home business? Was your goal to work from home so that you can share in the lives of your children?
Was your goal to be out from under the rule of a tyrannical boss? Was your goal to have the freedom to work when it is convenient for you? Was your goal to make tons of money working for yourself?

Here`s a few good tips that will help you stay focused on your home business:

TIP #1:
Whatever your reason for going out on your own, you must keep your reason in the forefront of your mind. If you forget your reason for starting your own home business, you will not be working for yourself for long. It is far too easy to let circumstance drive your activities --- and when circumstance is in the driver`s seat, you are more likely to crash and burn.

TIP #2:
Remember --- your own business is a lot like a real job. Some people go to work to play, some go to socialize, and others --- most often those who are paid in a commission or tip environment
--- go to work to work and to make money. When you work for yourself, your salary is directly proportional to your productivity. Therefore, wouldn`t it make sense to stay focused on getting as much done in as short of a period as possible?

Go to work to work and to make money. Leave playtime and recreation for when your workday has ended.

TIP #3:
When you are dealing with family in the course of your workday, it is important to schedule your activities as much as possible.
With small children, you must take time when you must, but you should also work hard to make sure you dedicate a specific number of hours to your workday.

With older children, it is much easier to tell them that you will be working between the hours of x and y. Your children and your friends must understand that certain hours of your day are devoted to the activities of your business.

TIP #4:
Don`t permit your friends and extended family to run over you.
Many people get the blind idea that if one works from home then they are not actually working.

Well-meaning people may try to fill your doorway to bring advice about getting a real job. Others may simply believe that if you are at home, then you are fair game for chitchat and socialization.

You must stand firm. You must make certain your friends and family understands that when you are working, then you ARE working! If they wish to socialize with you, then they need to do it during the hours that are not dedicated to your home business.

You are the only one who can stand up for you. Your friends and family will seldom be able to appreciate your dedication to your home business, unless you make the effort to make sure that they have the same respect for your business that you do.

TIP #5:
You should allot a certain portion of your day to email and to regular mail. For example, allot one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon to handling your written communications.

Unless you dedicate certain times to the handling of these communications, you will soon find yourself on the downward slope of decreased productivity.

TIP #6:
When you find yourself spending too much time doing non-productive activities, then you should seriously consider finding a third-party service provider who will assist you in those non-profitable business activities.

As an example, you might be in the mail-order business. You might believe that your time is best spent writing ad copy and setting up your advertising, but you find yourself spending far too much time taking care of your books to take care of your advertising in the manner that you should. In this event, it might make more sense to hire a bookkeeper to handle your financial records for you.

CONCLUSION:
In the end, the success of your home business is entirely and completely reliant upon you and the decisions that you make.

You had your reasons for deciding to start your own home based business. You must always keep your reasons in the forefront of your mind. You must always be able to rely upon your own self and your dedication to the success of your business.

Your friends and family might be annoyed that they cannot come visit upon their own whim, but when success comes to you and your business, they will better appreciate you for putting your foot down when necessary.

Success is within your reach, if only you can stay focused on your goals. You must decide to reach for your goals, and then, you must have the discipline necessary to reach them.
